Senior Front-End Engineer

ShootProof is looking for a Senior Front-End Engineer with experience and a passion for building digital products to join its growing team. Requirements

Our Senior Front-End Engineer will have:

  • A solid understanding of best practices for HTML5/JS/CSS
  • Experience with AngularJS is preferred
  • Experience with CSS and pre-processors (Less, Sass, etc.)
  • Experience with concerns in highly-trafficked environments (CDNs, use of minification, etc.)
  • Experience with moderately complex code bases
  • Decision-making abilities writing code to balance meeting requirements, while being modular and reusable when appropriate
  • Experience using version control software
  • Ability to pay attention to detail and the highest standards of execution
  • Varied digital experience including mobile, tablet, and desktop
  • Experience working with SVGs is a plus
  • A working understanding of server-side implementation details; the more experience the better
  • Ability to self-organize, manage their own time, and ultimately meet deliverables
Responsibilities
  • Lead architecture and implementation of front-end projects
  • Working with user experience and visual design departments to understand requirements and scope of work
  • Working from requirements, wireframes, or prototypes to inform architecture and implementation of front-end applications
  • Guide and review architecture and implementation details of various front-end projects lead by other team members
  • Serve as a mentor to other development team members
  • Contribute to and enforce front-end development standards
  • Conduct code reviews of moderately complex projects as they progress through development
  • Contribute to organization of tasks among larger project teams

QA Engineer

Summary

ShootProof is looking for a self-motivated, creative and proactive team-player to push for excellence in a fast-paced technical environment involving numerous platforms based on cloud architecture with a diverse technical stack. The candidate will collaborate closely with developers, designers, and other stakeholders throughout ShootProof's SDLC to document and perform numerous software quality checks including requirement-driven exploratory functional testing and non-functional/integration testing. The applicant will also be responsible for assisting in the triage and identifying of key issues with products in active development, as well as products serving customers in a production environment.

Requirements

As ShootProof's QA Engineer, you have:

  • At least two years of proven work experience in a QA engineer role
  • Working knowledge of QA methodologies, tools, and processes
  • Prior experience testing responsive, single-page web applications
  • A working and growing understanding of databases, web services, and front end applications
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process
  • Experience with Atlassian Jira or similar issue/workflow tracking tools
  • Clear, concise verbal communication skills in order to work with both technical and non-technical teams
  • Strong written communication skills
  • A strong, pragmatic, and results-oriented work ethic
  • Experience working independently
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar strongly preferred
Responsibilities

As ShootProof's QA Engineer, you will:

  • Perform manual functional and non-functional testing to ensure that the developed products meet expected requirements and functionality
  • Interact with development teams in order to understand and then determine a testing plan for the product or issue at hand
  • Participate in troubleshooting and triaging of issues with different teams to drive toward a root cause analysis with an associtated resolution
  • Use Atlassian Jira to document, track, and escalate issues as needed
  • Offer support during production deployment of applications
  • Contribute to automated testing practices as they evolve within the department

User Experience Researcher

The UX Researcher will plan and conduct research to support Product Design and Marketing Design projects. Reporting to the Head of Design, the UX Researcher will be the primary point of contact for UX research projects undertaken by ShootProof. As ShootProof’s User Experience Researcher, you will:

  • Work with the Head of Design, establish, document, conduct and iterate a tailored research practice at ShootProof.
  • In coordination with the Design team, undertake regular UX and market research projects to inform product direction, validate UX/UI designs, and direct future product strategies.
  • Plan, conduct, report and communicate findings of UX qualitative and quantitative research initiatives.
  • Conduct interviews, observations, usability tests, focus groups, surveys, and data analytics, as needed by ShootProof.

Back-End Engineer

Summary

ShootProof is looking for a forward-thinking team-player to join our small crew of developers as a Back-End Engineer. You will collaborate closely with senior-level back-end engineers, front-end engineers, our creative team, and our business analysts while addressing defects, enhancing existing features, and supporting implementation of new features. You'll work with PHP, databases, asynchronous worker processes, image processing libraries, and AWS, all on a fairly regular basis.

As a ShootProof Back-End Engineer, you have:

  • 3-5 years of experience with PHP
  • Experience with relational databases, including schema design and writing SQL queries
  • Working knowledge of or experience writing unit tests
  • Working knowledge of front end development practices in HTML, JavaScript, and CSS
  • Experience using version control software
  • Experience with peer code review practices, such as use of GitHub Pull Requests
  • Experience working with issue and task management software, such as Atlassian Jira or similar
  • The ability to pay attention to detail and the highest standards of execution

Responsibilities

As ShootProof's Back-End Engineer, you will:

  • Implement performant, scalable solutions using PHP, Amazon Web Services, and other appropriate technologies
  • Design and maintain data models in a relational database to support new features and enhancements to existing features
  • Troubleshoot and address issues with web-based applications
  • Design and implement RESTful API endpoints for consumption by a variety of client applications
  • Work closely with business analysts, user experience, visual designers, and front end developers to understand the product being built
  • Contribute to discussions and efforts around coding standards and internal best practices as the team’s needs evolve
  • Work with our Quality Assurance team to formulate test plans and automated tests as needed
