QA Engineer

Are you a QA engineer with a deep understanding of web application testing? Do you have immaculate attention to detail and strive for excellence when evaluating software? ShootProof is a small team of photographers, designers, engineers, perfectionists, and customer service fanatics who develop gorgeous online galleries and other sales solutions for retail photographers worldwide; and we’re seeking an energetic, passionate QA Engineer for software testing, planning, scripting as well as execution of tests for a variety of critical customer-facing web applications.

Summary

ShootProof is looking for a self-motivated, creative and proactive team-player to push for excellence in a fast-paced technical environment involving numerous platforms based on cloud architecture with a diverse technical stack. The candidate will collaborate closely with developers, designers, and other stakeholders throughout ShootProof's SDLC to document and perform numerous software quality checks including requirement-driven exploratory functional testing and non-functional/integration testing. The applicant will also be responsible for assisting in the triage and identifying of key issues with products in active development, as well as products serving customers in a production environment.

Requirements

As ShootProof's QA Engineer, you have:

  • At least two years of proven work experience in a QA engineer role
  • Working knowledge of QA methodologies, tools, and processes
  • Prior experience testing responsive, single-page web applications
  • A working and growing understanding of databases, web services, and front end applications
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process
  • Experience with Atlassian Jira or similar issue/workflow tracking tools
  • Clear, concise verbal communication skills in order to work with both technical and non-technical teams
  • Strong written communication skills
  • A strong, pragmatic, and results-oriented work ethic
  • Experience working independently
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar strongly preferred
Responsibilities

As ShootProof's QA Engineer, you will:

  • Perform manual functional and non-functional testing to ensure that the developed products meet expected requirements and functionality
  • Interact with development teams in order to understand and then determine a testing plan for the product or issue at hand
  • Participate in troubleshooting and triaging of issues with different teams to drive toward a root cause analysis with an associtated resolution
  • Use Atlassian Jira to document, track, and escalate issues as needed
  • Offer support during production deployment of applications
  • Contribute to automated testing practices as they evolve within the department

User Experience Researcher

The UX Researcher will plan and conduct research to support Product Design and Marketing Design projects. Reporting to the Head of Design, the UX Researcher will be the primary point of contact for UX research projects undertaken by ShootProof. Our dream UX researcher is thoughtful, proactive, and empathetic, taking initiative to learn more about what she or he believes will help ShootProof continue to grow as an in-demand, user-centered product.

User Experience Researcher

As ShootProof’s User Experience Researcher, you will:

  • Work with the Head of Design, establish, document, conduct and iterate a tailored research practice at ShootProof.
  • In coordination with the Design team, undertake regular UX and market research projects to inform product direction, validate UX/UI designs, and direct future product strategies.
  • Plan, conduct, report and communicate findings of UX qualitative and quantitative research initiatives.
  • Conduct interviews, observations, usability tests, focus groups, surveys, and data analytics, as needed by ShootProof.
  • Perform tactical research activities such as recruiting, moderating, analyzing and presenting.
  • Manage a project plan and roadmap of research work, in alignment with regular product release cycles.
  • Propose data-supported design solutions that resolve or improve product usability.

As ShootProof’s User Experience Researcher, you have:

  • Strong empathy for our core demographic, a thirty-something community of primarily-female photographers with an emerging professional skill set.
  • Several years experience in the field of UX research.
  • Demonstrated experience planning and conducting usability studies for software/web.
  • Experience interpreting and working with quantitative data for the purpose of improving software usability.
  • Experience designing, executing, and interpreting survey data.
  • Degree or background in human factors, psychology, research methods, data analytics preferred.
  • Desirable: experience/background in photography.
  • Desirable: some direct UX/UI design experience, to reinforce research findings and to participate in design activities.
