Introducing Screenshot Protection: Deliver Your Galleries With Confidence
You put everything into your craft — the early call times, the hours of editing, the obsessive attention to color and light. The last thing you should have to worry about is a client screenshotting your gallery previews and quietly walking off with your work.
Which is exactly why we built Screenshot Protection.
The Problem Nobody Likes to Talk About
Here’s an uncomfortable truth about delivering galleries online: watermarks have a weakness. And lately, that weakness has a name — AI.
AI-powered watermark removal tools are free, fast, and widely available. A client who doesn’t want to pay for their images can screenshot a gallery preview, run it through one of these tools in under a minute, and end up with a reasonably clean version of your work without ever placing an order. It’s not a theoretical risk. It’s happening.
And before you think “well, at least it’s just a low-res screenshot” — sure, but that doesn’t make it okay. It still represents lost revenue, lost trust, and work being used without your permission. More practically, clients who might have ordered a beautiful large-format print for their wall are walking away with a pixelated web preview instead — and wondering why it looks terrible at 24 inches. (Spoiler: because it was never meant to be printed. Because they were supposed to buy it from you.)
If you’re already using ShootProof’s AI-Resistant Watermarks, Screenshot Protection is a natural next layer. AI-Resistant Watermarks make it significantly harder to remove your branding through automated tools — and Screenshot Protection addresses the step that comes before that, discouraging clients from capturing preview images in the first place. Together, they cover both ends of the misuse problem.
Introducing Screenshot Protection
As of April 21st, 2026, ShootProof’s new Screenshot Protection feature adds a meaningful layer of defense to your galleries — available on both desktop and mobile — to discourage clients from capturing and misusing your preview images.
It’s available right now, to every ShootProof studio, on every plan. No upgrades. No add-ons. Just turn it on.
How It Works
On desktop, when a client attempts to take a screenshot, the gallery responds immediately — blurring the screen and displaying your studio logo alongside a clear, legally-worded (and customizable) notice that makes it unmistakably obvious that screenshotting isn’t okay. No ambiguity. No “oops, I didn’t know.” Just a direct, professional reminder that your work is protected.

On mobile, the protection works differently — and cleverly. Half of each gallery image remains blurred at all times. If a client tries to press and hold an image to capture it, the blur shifts from one half to the other, making it impossible to capture the full image cleanly in a single screenshot. There’s no workaround. There’s no sneaking a usable capture.

Why This Matters for Your Business
Protecting your images isn’t just about stopping theft, it’s about protecting your revenue, your reputation, and your confidence in sharing your work.
When photographers don’t trust their delivery tools, they hold back. They over-watermark. They share smaller previews. They second-guess every gallery. That friction doesn’t just affect your workflow…it affects the client experience, too.
Screenshot Protection lets you deliver your work the way it was meant to be seen, knowing there’s a real layer of defense standing between your images and misuse. And when clients understand that screenshotting isn’t going to get them the high-quality keepsake they’re after — that the beautiful, print-worthy version of that image lives behind a purchase, not a keyboard shortcut — it removes a barrier to buying, not just a path to stealing.
Available to Every Studio, On Every Plan
Like all of ShootProof’s essential features, there’s no tier requirement for Screenshot Protection. Whether you’re on a starter paid plan or a top-tier subscription, this feature is yours to use, today.
We made it that way on purpose. Image protection shouldn’t be a premium perk. It should be a baseline.
Turn It On in Seconds
Screenshot Protection is waiting for you in your ShootProof gallery settings. Enable it for desktop, mobile, or both — and it starts working immediately.
Enable Screenshot Protection in Your Gallery Settings
In addition to enabling the protection for a single gallery within the “Branding” tab, you can also select multiple galleries in your galleries overview page, and use Bulk Actions to apply it to several galleries at once.
Your work is worth protecting. Now it’s a little easier to do exactly that.
Pro tip: set the tone before they even open the gallery. Screenshot Protection does the heavy lifting once a client is inside your gallery — but a little proactive messaging goes a long way too. Consider adding a short note to your gallery delivery email or gallery intro message that reminds clients that your images are copyrighted and that purchased images include personal use rights. Something warm and human tends to land better than a legal disclaimer — and it sets the right expectations before they ever click the link. You could consider something like:
“Your gallery is ready and I can’t wait to hear what you think! A quick note: the images in your gallery are copyrighted, so screenshots aren’t available for printing, posting, or sharing. Purchasing your favorites is the best way to get high-res images cleared for personal use — and it means the world to a small business like mine.“
In addition to Screenshot Protection, there are other ways to help protect your galleries (from unwanted eyes) and your imagery (from getting nabbed), including:
- Private Gallery URLs
- Password Protection
- AI Watermark Resistance
- Gallery Visitor Tracking
- Linked Contact Permissions
