Position overview

Do you dream up UX solutions while you sleep? Are you interested in working with a fun, creative group of people? ShootProof is looking for an experienced, empathetic, and driven Sr User Experience Designer to join our team full-time with the sole purpose of creating amazing experiences for our customers.

The ideal candidate would be someone who is mid-senior level in their UX design career and is looking to continue their career growth. This is a hands-on role, often juggling multiple projects at once.

Key responsibilities

In a “typical” day, our Sr UX Designer might:

  • Facilitate design discussions with product managers, developers, UX Research and the support team to create/refine creative solutions to meet our users’ needs.
  • Build interactive prototypes for use in conducting usability tests.
  • Advance our existing design system through creative solutions.
  • Work closely with developers to ensure your designs are realized as envisioned.
  • Mentor less experienced team members or others in the organization about the UX process and help them decide on the best approach to solving a problem.
  • Create design documentation, including wireframes, mockups, annotated designs and user flows.

This job might be a great fit for you if:

  • You are a clear communicator.  You can command the attention of a room to express your design creations. You are able to facilitate meaningful discussions and feedback gathering from others eloquently and with confidence.
  • You believe in solving the right problem. You have a strong desire to understand a problem space. Your favorite word is “why”. You always dig deeper into a problem to ensure we’re not solutioning for a symptom of a different problem.
  • You inspire innovation. You are not married to your design, know that good ideas can come from anywhere and excel at helping others translate their ideas into creative solutions. You keep up with industry trends and explore how or if a trend would benefit our experience.
  • You keep an eye on the big picture. Even though you’re in the day-to-day, you have an eye for the future and don’t allow yourself or others to design ourselves into a corner.
Experience and requirements

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • 5-7 years of experience designing consumer facing experiences, preferably for SaaS or web applications.
  • A strong portfolio showing samples of your work, clearly articulating your process and what you did on each project.
  • A history of creating compelling experiences for multiple form factors (desktop, tablet, mobile, etc.)
  • Worked successfully in an agile environment.
  • Experience conducting design thinking or related design workshops in a lean UX environment.
  • Experience working in Sketch/Zeplin, Invision, Figma or Adobe CC.

Things that would put you over the top:

  • You’re a photographer, either professional or amateur, or have experience in the photography industry.
  • Experience facilitating interviews and usability/concept testing with users.
  • Practical knowledge of behavioral analytics and applying those insights to design discussions.
  • Working knowledge of creating and implementing design systems.
  • HFI or equivalent UX Certification
  • Experience with Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality projects
